STATS
Name: Shrill Whistle of Warning
Nickname: Whistle
Age: 32
Gender: Female
Description: A young elf female with a bronzed skin, pointy
ears and coppery-red hair. She usually keeps her hair tied back in a bun
with a few strands escaping to frame her face. Whistle has blue eyes and a
wide, button nose. She usually wears pants or skirts and blouses with some
lace as she loves a little embellishment on her clothes.
Personality: Whistle is as versatile as the wind. She is
usually pretty relaxed, gentle and calm with a little humorous side that
means she sometimes flashes a cheeky grin to those she fooled. At other
times she might be very excited and bubbling with energy. Sometimes this
energy turns violent and she can end up destroying some things in a
rampage. Without fail though, Whistle is someone who guards her home and
it's people. She was named to be a competent look-out and that's what she
turned out to be.
Family/Bio: Whistle was born in a musical family and it was
said that she let out a mighty cry after being born which earned her her
name. Whistle naturally gravitated toward wind instruments and she prefers
to play the flute. She can however decently play a variety of instruments
and is quite interested in the history of some instruments. She is young
still for an elf but earned her spot in the WindChill project because of
her father's recommendation.

STORY
Whistle put down her flute and jumped up
when she noticed Essence of Moonbeam
approaching her. The pale high princess with her long black hair and her
penchant for blue and silver clothing looked like she had escaped from the
moon. Which was probably how she'd earned her name. The female elf was far
from a mysterious, serene beauty though, she was a whirlwind of creativity
and industry. Seeing her walk toward her, Whistle figured she'd be tasked
with a specific job.
Whistle waited for the older woman to reach her and bowed her head in
greeting.
"No need for formality." Moonbeam insisted, "We are all
equals in the community."
"What can I help you with?" Whistle asked.
"I believe Sunsparkle wants you to meet with him and the other elves
tasked with the defence of WindChill. He asked me to extend his invitation
if I saw you. He's expecting you tonight after diner."
"I'll be there." Whistle said hurriedly.
"Don't worry, you'll be fine." Moonbeam assured her and then
continued with her own tasks.
Slightly perturbed and nervous, Whistle grabbed her flute and started
playing again. The tune was a bit shrill and skipped from high to low,
reflecting her mood. Gradually though, the music soothed her and she
regained her calm. She was here with a push from her father who hoped it
would be the start of her career. It was a good place to start, certainly
she could have fared far worse. Her superiors were fair and friendly. Her
fellow settlers motivated. Whistle suspected every last one of them had
been thoroughly screened before they'd been allowed to join the project.
Which they could since WindChill was situated in a small pocket dimension.
The cliff wall stretched as far as she could see and she'd been told they
could expand for as far as they wanted. Some potent magic had gone in this
place.
Houses were build in the safety of a large cavern. Animals were kept,
shops sold their wears and people had access to farming and hunting
grounds through portals that would only appear to people carrying a
special token. It all seemed very controlled, but Whistle knew that
someone with bad intentions could still give them a lot of trouble.
Especially when they were in this fledgling state. Maybe she should be
happy that High prince Sunsparkle Reflection
was finally calling a meeting. Whistle decided she might as well look at a
few things before she faced the leaders.
Her impromptu check of the site took longer than she'd anticipated and
Whistle had to rush to eat and make her way to the High prince's house.
She sat down a bit winded and suddenly felt very young. The High prince
and Princess were there, but also Misty Fog Clearing
who played a big part in the illusionary magical defences and Joseph
Cloudwalker, a human who looked older than them all but was in fact
the second youngest in attendance. Still the man managed to make her feel
the most nervous. He had a stern look in his eyes and he smoked a pipe
which added to his stern appearance.
The meeting started and Whistle felt better when she could keep up and the
others acknowledged her efforts. The five argued back and forth but each
time came to the same conclusion:
"We need more knights." Sunsparkle said, "They can defend
WindChill from outside attacks."
"We need more staff too." Moonbeam added, "If more people
join they'll need people to talk to when they have problems."
"Add in enough humans too." Joseph added, "The population
needs to be well-balanced or people will feel uncomfortable. Might I
suggest maybe selecting a few halflings as well to underscore the fact
that we are compatible."
"Maybe we can split up the tasks." Misty suggested.
Sunsparkle nodded, "Moonbeam and I will keep an eye on things here
and look to recruit people from elf villages. Joseph would you select
humans you deem a good fit?"
"What can I do?" Whistle asked.
"I believe Whistle might be the ideal woman to make a connection to
IceHearth."
"She is the right age." Sunsparkle agreed.
"I can keep up the defences on my own for now. Don't stay away too
long though." Misty encouraged her.
When Whistle returned to her quarters she felt more at home at WindChill
than in the weeks before. She felt like she'd connected to these important
people and that she too would be someone of worth. And the important role
of waiting to pair a drak had her beyond excited. She could hardly focus
long enough to pack a bag. And then she only had to wait while the hours
ticked away during the night.
Whistle awoke to a bright day, surprised that she had in fact managed to
fall asleep. She jumped out of bed, grabbed her bed and reported to the
portals. Today she'd travel to IceHearth and when she'd return home, she'd
bring a powerful ally. She whistled a little tune that sounded oddly like
an army march mixed with a little reel and then she was off into the
unknown.

MIND PAIRING
Whistle had waited patiently by
her own standards. She'd refrained from asking too many questions and she
certainly hadn't given advice without being skaed for it, well, only a
couple of times but she'd held back. She was young by elf customs but
brimming with ideas and being in this new environment had given her plenty
more to think about. The people were different, the layout was different,
the air was different. Even when she played her flute she could feel it.
After what seemed like an eternity but was but a breath in the light of a
lifespan, Whistle was called upon to join the mind pairing ceremony. Rain
Zehnwryn presented 5 draklings to the assembled crowd. Whistle couldn't
help but gawk at all those cuddly draklings. She'd thought WindChill draks
to be furry, but the IceHearth draks only put them to shame.
After a while, a dark-blue coloured female wind with bright white manes
and wingsails approached Whistle. The wind seemed to be mischievous and
perceptive, but she was a bit wilder than what Whistle had become used to.
"My name is Weririyn. Enchanted." the
drakling introduced herself.
"Charmed, I'm Shrill Whistle of Warnign from WindChill but do call me
Whistle, almost everyone does."
The drakling gave a little flourish and a small bow with her head and then
the two started discussing in earnest.

KNIGHTHOOD
Returning home to WindChill felt
like a whole new adventure. She'd been but a young elf when she'd parted
and now she returned as a capable knight along with a strong, dependable
partner. The prospect was exhilerating and also a little bit daunting.
Sensing her knight's trepidation, Weririyn gave her a little headbut and
nudged her along.
"You'll do fine. I bet everyone will be waiting for
you and maybe they'll even throw a party."
"You think?"
"We can always come back if they don't."
Weririyn half-joked.
In fact the two of them would likely travel between the two places often.
That had been the point of sending Whistle out in the first place. But
their work could only start after they'd made at least one succesful trip
together. So they'd best be off.
"Here we go!" Whistle called out and then closed her eyes as they
portalled back to WindChill.
Gale Weririyn joined the Hail Armada as High
Knights
