Lantessama
Isle
Mechs opened his eyes to find
himself standing on a beach. Stevan was clinging to his arm, Ponte had
taken hold of his leg and Trevor, the guy from the group of hijackers had
managed to catch his jacket before they teleported.
Only then did the mechanic think about his ship, the Medea might have been
wrecked in the debris. A stab of pain went through his heart at the
thought that he'd probably lost her. It was Stevan, shaking his arm that
got him out of those painful thoughts.
"We made it!" the teenager whooped.
Ponte fell down on the sand and proceeded to kiss the ground. Trevor just
stood there, awestruck and lost. He wondered if he could stay with the
other three or if they would expect him to move on.
"Where are we?" he asked, breaking the relief of Stevan and
Ponte.
"Doesn't seem like earth." Mechs shrugged, the water was far too
clean for that.
In the distance a large sea-creature leapt from the sea and dove back with
a loud splash.
"Definitely not earth." Stevan whispered.
Not unless orcas or whales were now bright-red in colour. Turning around,
the men suddenly noticed that people were looking at them.
"Excuse us, could you tell us where we are?" Ponte asked, using
his most charming smile.
"Lantessama Isle." one of the people answered.
The nerdy man with glasses stepped to the front and seemed to take the
lead.
"My name is Ergo. I'm the record-keeper here. It's not uncommon to
have people appear here. So don't worry, there usually is a purpose to
it."
Trevor started to worry, "Do you have a way to communicate with other
worlds?"
"Some." Ergo nodded, "Probably not all, but the universe is
vast."
"I'd kill for a computer." Trevor sighed.
"Oh we have one of those." Ergo nodded.
And that was all it took to get Trevor and Stevan on board. Ponte had been
won over at the friendly welcome. But Mechs still hesitated.
"Can we get away from here?"
"I guess you could ask one of the riders to take you to where you
want to go. Though if you try to impress a dragon yourself, going back to
where you came from might be a lot easier. Transports beyond the Elsewhere
are highly dependent on mental images.
"And we can try?"
"Anybody willing is allowed to participate." Ergo nodded.
