Name: Hizaiel
Age: 21
Sex: Hermaphrodite
Gender: Female (Pronouns: She/Her)
Species: Ocean Fae
Description:
Hizaiel has a slightly tan complexion that is actually quite uncommon
among the Ocean fae as they favour either the very pale or the very dark
skin-types. Her red hair also turns quite a few heads as well as her
noticeable ears that are not only pointed but also finned. Hizaiel usually
hides her eyes behind her bangs and keeps the rest of her hair on the
shorter side, never letting it grow longer than shoulder-length. Hizaiel
has a standard build for her species, she is of average height with normal
curvature (which isn't very outspoken in the Ocean Fae).
Personality: Hizaiel is quite shy because of her unusual
appearance. She can bluff her way out of an uncomfortable situation
because she can (and will) use her looks to her advantage, but she'd much
rather not be noticed at all. Since she is so conscious about her
appearance, she mostly loves activities she can do by herself. Group
events/sports are far beyond her comfort zone. Hizaiel likes to avoid
conflict and her standard stress-response is "flight".
Short Bio: Hizaiel was born to two well-known political
Ocean Fae. From a young age people expected her to follow her parents but
Hizaiel never lived up to those expectations. Her parents aren't really
disappointed by that and hope Hizaiel will find an occupation she'll love.
They try to shield her as best they can.
Skills: Exit-sense (Hizaiel always knows how to get away),
Bluff, Dazzling looks (not really a skill, but usable nonetheless).

Hatching/Meeting
Over the past days they'd met a
multitude of sea dragons, each different in some way. Many had gathered at
Vallen Cove to lay their clutches. The humans, dragons, gryphons and sea
dragons had ventured far and wide to look for bonders and apparently their
arrival had been timed such that they too were eligible. The humming that
suddenly expanded in the waters was the sign everyone was waiting for. It
was time to gather around the eggs and cheer the hatchlings on. And if
they were lucky, they might just bond.
Hizaiel sat perched on a submerged rock somewhere overlooking one of the
full Loch Nex clutches. Though all these clutches were somehow related to
one of the Loch nex present, she preferred to try for a full-blooded
individual of this species. She loved their sleek lines and poweful
flippers. And they possessed the ability to walk on land, a trait that had
many merits for someone who enjoyed solitude.
A suddenl onslaught of notes, rhythms and slaps interrupted Hizaiel's
thinking. Thrown out of her rhythm, Hizaiel looked around and noticed a
faded purple male hatchling looking her way.
"Do you want to hang out with me?" she asked.
The Loch Nex male seemed to nod, at least he didn't swim away so Hizaiel
felt like it was an affirmative.
"What do I call you?" she asked.
To which the Loch Nexian unleashed some kind of singing and tapping with
all kinds of rhythms running through each other.
Hizaiel tried to remember what she knew from musical classes years ago and
finally caught on, "Isn't that a hemiole?"
The Loch Nex wasn't exactly happy with that answer. He made more sounds
but didn't get far until a passing sea dragon could help:
"He's saying something like 'key' and 'joined
across bars' though it's more like images than words."
"At least I got some part right." Hizaiel sighed.
"It seems he wants something longer."
"Clef... Clave... Hemiole...os".
At which point Clavhémiolos flapped his fins in absolute delight.
"I guess that's the one we're going with then."

Cove (Mermay 2023)
Stats
Name: Clavhémiolos
Sex: Male
Species: Loch Nexian
Parents: Issie (Sea Monster from Lake Ikeda Japan)
Appearance: LochNex dragons are a sexually dimorphic breed. Males
have a long eel fin type crest from forehead to the tips of their tails.
Females have no crests. Other than this they are the same. Their hides are
muted greens, blues, and greys, and they have opalescent eyes like Old
World dragons. Their forelimbs are strong flippers. Their upper forelimbs
are short, which causes the keel of the dragon to be only a few inches
above the ground. Their rear limbs are longer, and also have finny feet.
They will continue to grow at the rate of one foot of length per year.
This is about 1.5 inches at the shoulder. Olympic sized swimming pool
would probably stop at around 40 feet long. They cannot fly but are expert
swimmers. They are supremely graceful in the water but ungainly on land.
They do not have teleportation or breath weapons, but are accomplished
spitters. If they have a mouthful of water they can spit a long distance.
This trait might be useful to their progeny. These dragons are genetically
malleable, moreso than other breeds. This may be due to the interference
of the Nexus while they were eggs. They will blend easily with any other
dragons, aquatic or otherwise. If the eggs are kept wet (as these were in
the shallows of a lake) the hatchlings will be aqruatic. Eggs kept warm
and dry will hatch terrestrial with somewhat longer legs and long clawed
toes rather than fins. Eggs kept in warm and humid conditions will hatch
more amphibious.
*Colour: Purple
*Size at Hatching: approximately 4 inches from keel to
shoulder, 32 inches long.
*Size at Reproductive Maturity: approximately 3 feet
from keel to shoulder, 24 feet long.
*Maximum size: unknown.
*Proportions: 30% neck, 30% body, 40% tail. Their
height from keel to shoulder is 1/8th their length.
Communication: They cannot speak verbally or telepathically. They
can make a wide range of musical vocalizations and can communicate among
their kind with these sounds. They can understand a large number of
languages, and can answer yes/no questions. More complex discussions can
be had with pre-determined codes, but that is still very time consuming. A
strong telepath can ‘read’ words and concepts from their minds, if the
LochNexian is willing. If they bond a dragon with telepathic speech, the
two will have no difficulty communicating.
Personality: Independent and stubborn, Clavhémiole really sticks to
his own rhythm. He will not settle for anything less than his own ideals.
This does not mean he can't work with others. Just that working with some
will be harder than with others (and isn't that true for all of us?).
Living Conditions:
*Habitat: prefer to live in areas with large bodies of
water. Can accept fresh, brackish or salt water. Just so long as they’re
deep enough to swim in.
*Diet: Fish and water plants are preferred, but they
are omnivorous and can eat all plants and animals generally considered
edible.
*Bonding: do not bond naturally. They can be bonded to
by a hatchling, or can have a bond forged with another through magical
means.
Abilities:
*High Intelligence
*Extra large lung capacity
*Musical vocalizations
*Perfect pitch.

Swim
Clavhémiolos -Clavis to his inner
circle- dove deep, then swerved up and turned as close as he could. Still
it wasn't fast enough. So he went again. And again. And again. Hizaiel had
joined him the first few times but she was getting tired.
"What are you planning on doing?" she asked.
In their own pantomime language, the Loch Nexian indicated fast
swimming, a group and female. Which was enough to lead Hizaiel to the
right conclusion. Her dragon wanted to chase in a swim. And why shouldn't
he?
"Go for it!" she cheered him on.
