The Second Movement

Chapter 12: Dark Messenger
Sekai dropped to the ground and cursed. Even if she was a ‘field’ officer, her actual hours on the so called field were probably less than Kuruma’s. Mostly Barune handled these calls, but now the old man had sent them all out. Much to her dismay.
"At least we’re together." Kuruma, sensing his lover’s mood said, "Lots of time to fool around, and to make plans that will meen his downfall. Revenge is sweet, my dear."
"It’ll only be sweet if I can break his ankles using 80pound steel weights crashing down on his legs. If I can make him grovel through dirt for the tiniest speck of food and then mock him when I have the dogs eat it in stead of him."
"Especially vindictive today, aren’t we." Kuruma smiled, "It’s good to see you’ve got your spirits back." All the acting in the castle meant he saw little of his beloved Sekai.
"Give me a kiss and make it alright, I feel like i’m dieing out here."
Kuruma smirked and bent down, "Your wish is my command."

Crows flew of and on from the Palace Court and Arrenji received messages from his underlings. Barune had been succesful in preventing a passage to the West, and was on the trail of the group, aided by a young man who he seemed to have taken pity on. Arrenji was again thrown off by the man’s behaviour. Even if he seemed cold and uncaring, why had he taken in an orphaned pickpocket? Did it have something to do with Barune’s wellkept secret past? Or was it just a whim of the man that tried to throw of Arrenji’s thoughts on him every chance he got?
Still, Arrenji had more faith in Barune than he had in the couple of backstabbers he kept intentionally close. But maybe the time had come to cut them off for a while. A vacation in the jungle with the least amount of comfort available might make them remember who was boss.
Sighing, Arrenji took out pen and paper and set on a long letter of past events and future plans he wanted Kuruma and Sekai to fulfill for him. Some were mere wild goose chases, other were necessary tasks, but every last one of them would seem equally important once Arrenji had woven them into the story.
Wheels were turning, Fates were twisting. Soon a change would come and Arrenji fervently wished his plans would prove enough to make him the final victor...
