The Third Movement
Chapter 15: Lonely
Foreseer
Sophia waited outside of her small beach home and watched the waves roll
into the cove that she called home. She was a priestess and oracle for the
sea godess Atalence, but fewer people came every year to seek her aid.
Which was why she was so excited now that 8 people would be washed ashore
within minutes.
Patiently, the seer waited for her visitors to arrive. If one reached a
certain age and lived the life that she had, one knew that being impatient
and stressed wa sbad for the heart and stomach. Accepting some things was
better than fight them. Other things however, like her forced stay when
no-one even remembered she was here, were things she planned to take
action on.
One time, the oracle at this beach had seen people daily, receiving their
thanks for the advice she gave along with their stories and company.
Sophia hadn’t minded that time. Being told stories had lulled her
adventurous spirit to sleep, but lately that spirit had awakened
full-force, making it very hard for her to not walk on the tempted bricked
path away from her home.
"Right on time." She smiled as the first bodies washed ashore as
if they were dolls. Without much consideration for her clothes and
footwear, Sophia stepped into the water and pulled out the first person
she found, a young blond woman, clinging to aan older, short man that
seemed rather weakened.
"Can you walk?" Sophia asked Lahranne.
The girl looked up, sighed with relief that she was still alive and slowly
sat on her knees, then rose to her feet. "I’ll manage." She
said.
"I think Tokei needs some support." Sophia added, trying her
best to pull his dead weight out of the water. With the help of Lahranne,
that finally succeeded and Sophia returned to the shore to leave the
jester in a safe place before returning.
With an approving smile, Sophia saw that Lahranne had pulled out a young
man and woman and that a fourth figure, a water nymph had also started
dragging at a body. Sophia grinned when she read why the nymph looked so
worried, "Nothing a good glas of ale won’t fix honey." Sophia
called to her, "He’ll be just fine."
With a releaved sigh, Sezanee dropped Jonayk off near Tokei and ventured
in to pull the last two members, Renoud and Wernyv who had acted as
shockbreakers out of the calm waters.
When everyone had more or less regained consciousness, Sophia turned
around and pointed: "My house is over there, it would be a lot better
to rest there if you don’t mind. It’s also the best place to discuss
our further plans in."
"Just who are you?" Ruben asked.
"Sophia. I’ll be your guide away from here, hasn’t anyone told
you?"
"I tried not to be too free with information." Sezanee answered.
"Ah yes, well once in a while humans do tend to know what they’re
doing and won’t mess things up if they know what’s coming, honey. Now
let’s get going so I can feed you guys something. You feel so hungry, I
could faint."
