The Eighth Mind Pairing

Corilyn snuck into the Deep Cavern. Strictly speaking it was tradition for female draks to isolate themselves while they were tending to their clutches. But being a Rain drak, Meyanal didn't actually stick to rules and traditions.
She welcomed the company of her knight, especially to aleviate the boredom of the wait. And Corilyn had loved seeing the drak eggs. Smooth and warm, dusted with sand. And after the draklings had hatched, she'd played with them.
Her husband, Hael, knew of course, if only because his drak, Ore Luïkios, the sire of the clutch, stood guard before the doors to the Deep Cavern. Although Corilyn suspected that he himself had snuck in at times as well.
Corilyn had brought in plenty of information as well. She had spoken and observed the aspirants and had told Meyanal and her brood all that she'd learned. So now the draklings knew who they were going to pair with. Draklings grew so much faster than human children so it wouldn't be long before they were ready.
And indeed, when Corilyn left this time, she did so with a message for the entirety of Chindor: "Meyanal is leaving the Deep Cavern!"

The aspirants were plentiful. As humans and draks crowded into the antechamber, Meyanal stood behind her draklings, showing them off to the world.
As soon as everyone had taken their places, the Rain drakcleared her throat and introduced her children.
"Day Imaosal, who is as bright as a summer morning and a sgentle as winter snow."
The Day drakling made a little bow before she trotted off toward Rachelle, the blond-haired, pale harpist who had come from Acicade. Though she needed to dress against the chill of Chindor, the sea air had done wonders for her health.
"Greetingzs, I have heard you play from beyond the door. You're amazing."
Rachelle blushed and hugged the drakling, clearly happy with the outcome.
Meyanal introduced her second daughter: "Forest Lurosal, who is as sharp as her dad and as devious as her mother." she said with pride.
The brown and green drakling seemed to relish the praise and then made her way over to the two unusually furred draks. Asaph and Gül-Solmaz had come from a world beyond Icarus but they were definitely draks. And the little forest felt drawn toward them, wanting to know more of where they had been and were headed.
She could have picked either but decided on Gül-Solmaz as the one she liked best.
"I want to join your travelsss." she said with an excited hiss.
"My third daughter, Water Qoosal." Meyanal continued, "Kind and compassionate with a keen eye for detail."
The water drakling gave a little tap with her tail, but it was more a gesture of embarrassment than anything else. Quoosal calmly walked toward Sacan, a local girl with a good set of skills and a bright future.
"I love helping others too." Quoosal told Sacan quietly before nodding off.
That left only the dark brown mud drakling. The only boy in the clutch and apparently quite a patient fellow. Meyanal nodded approvingly and said: "And Mud Wergalos, stubborn as a Nurk but with a heart of gold that will bring him far."
The Mud let the sappy words of his mother bounce of his hide and quickly made his way to Farina, a baker from perigee. She'd been baking in the kitchens while she waited for the clutch to hatch and had handed out her bread and treats to anyone who was hungry. Foregoing sleep when it became clear that her recipe for sweet rolls was better than that of the Chindor chef.
"Let'zs go sssleep." Wergalos insisted, feeling that his knight could use a nap as much as he could.
