Teranon & Letisi

FLIGHT

Two years after Xander had stared Letisi in the eyes and had finally admitted to the world what his preference in love really was -not that it mattered since he only knew two people at Cy, one of which had already figured it out and the other was too engrossed in his own secrets to even notice the oddity- his dragoness came to him.
"It is time to fly, rider mine."
"Already?" he asked, joking only slightly, he was very nervous about the first flight of his dragoness. Nothing he could think about could compare to the uncertainty of that moment.
Calming thoughts came from his dragoness, along with the statement that she had waited long enough for him to be ready. Now she could wait no longer, she would fly and she would have eggs to hatch into little dragons. The images followed each other rapidly until they merged into one image of flying dragons above the tower of Cy.

A few weeks passed with Letisi's name on the flight board. It filled up with dragons both from Cy as well as dragons from other worlds. But to Xander's surprise one of the names on the board was familiar. Orange-striped Orange Teranon had entered the flight to capture Letisi.
Visions of his best friend Liv entered his mind's eye. He had known her since college and he had always felt comfortable around her. Maybe because she had made no effort at all to start a relationship with him. Before they had been teleported to Cy, she had confessed to him that he knew he was in the closet and that she felt that it was time to step out.
And now she was entering his flight. It was so unlike her that he looked again twice to make sure he wasn't making a mistake. Slightly perturbed he left the boards where they hung and went to the chamber where Liv and her Teranon resided.

"There's not that many females rising at Cy." she told him gently after he had tried to tell her just what bothered him about the whole issue for half an hour, "And Teranon really likes Letisi."
"Yeah... I can see why you entered him, but wasn't there a way you could have disencouraged him?"
"Disencouraging dragons is bad for their self esteem. Besides, he won't win. It's his first flight and there are some experienced flyers chasing your Letisi."
"You've been hanging around with Ovi way too much, but I see your point."
"Besides, would you rather have Raven's Corvosa chasing her?"
The look on Xander's face was priceless when he considered the possibility. Though there was nothing wrong with Raven's appearance, in fact he was rather yummy,  his whole I'm-dark-confused-so-please-don't-bother-me-attitude wasn't anything Xander would like to get involved with.
"Don't worry though." Liv continued, "Corvosa's chasing in the Bipedra, probably trying to avoid Cerces' hydra. And even if he mates there, Raven is spoken for."
"Lucky me." Xander sighed, though he was in fact releaved.
"I will try my best." Teranon butted into the conversation, "Only time will tell what is to happen."
"That's not very comforting, Liv." Xander noted.
"Don't mind him, Teranon's going through a macho-mood stage. I hope it won't last very long because it's killing me at times to see how hard he tries to be what he's not."
"I can hear you!"
"I know dear, you can't hear this enough."
Teranon growled and returned to his own thoughts, leaving his rider and Xander alone to talk about other things. At least he was still in the flight and he would prove what he was worth. If Liv said he wasn't macho, he would have to catch this female for sure. The whole history between his rider and hers might even give him an advantage.

Two more weeks passed until Letisi was so ready she illuminated dark rooms with her presence. She was glowing a bright deep red and though her mood had gone a bit to the irritated side, she still was nice enough to let her bond wake up slowly before she made the announcement.
"Xander! Get up!" she roared, twitching her tail, when he wasn't fast enough.
"What is it?" he asked.
"You ALWAYS make me wait! I'm done waiting completely. i'm off. Be ready by the time I allow myself to get caught."
"LeTIsi!" he called, but he was too late, the female red was off and he was left, half naked in his chamber to get dressed and ready. With a sigh he got up, put on a shirt and ran -or stumbled- down the stairs to Liv's room.
"She's gone!" he called out.
"Oh good!"
"There's nothing good about it."
"No, but that means Teranon just didn't fly out to do something dangerous." Liv said releaved. "I can't believe either of them took off like that."
"Well you know how women behave when..."
"Watch your tongue!"
"Ehm, ok, but you know what I mean."
"Yes, I have a good idea about what happened. Let's see if the other dragons are all in pursuit."
They rushed down and after a few questions to people who had already been up in the cool dawn air, they learned that three dragons had gone in pursuit of the bright red female. Two others that had signed up had not noticed her depart and were now too far behind to even hope of catching Letisi.
"Do you know who is chasing her?"
"How would I?"
"Well, ask her!" Liv shouted.
"She won't tell... only that the orange one is starting to look appealing to her."
"She wouldn't!" Liv called out.
After a few curse words Xander didn't knew his friend even knew she started to tell the whole story. "Yesterday Teranon assured me he would catch her. He told me he had had a chat with your Letisi and that they had made arrangements. I thought he was just bragging... I mean they could have made arrangements for a swim next week for all I knew."
"He knew darn well she was ready." Xander said a bit ticked off.
"Who else is up there?" Liv asked.
"A brown who is starting to lag because he is a bit too old for flights and a young blue who is trying to keep up, but failing because the other dragons are bigger. The only one Letisi sees is Teranon."
"Blasted."
"Maybe she will outfly him?" Xander tried.
"Not a chance!" Letisi's reply came, "I'm making my own choice now and there's nothing you can do about it."
"Why me?" Xander sighed.
"At least yours is speaking again to you." Liv said.
"I will speak to you, rider mine." Teranon said in her mind, "See! I'm very macho."
"That's an insult fool." Liv called to the dragon.
"Yeah, but I like to be macho... and happy... This is what makes me happy. I will catch her and you will like it wether you want it or not."
"Those two..." Xander brought out before he gasped.
Teranon had gotten a hold on Letisi's tail.
"Let's get out of here." Liv whispered in his ear, "It's getting hard to control the urge to just kiss."
"But... but..." Xander said.
"Oh, come on. We're friends, I won't tell, if you won't."
"what if this ruins our friendship?"
"Well then we couldn't have been good friends to start with. This doesn't mean anything else than that our dragons like each other and are great pains in the you know what."
Xander cxouldn't help but grin at the unintentional pun. "Ok, but we tell no-one!"
"Promised."
Running without stumbling they ran back up to their rooms before the two dragon's passion overtook them completely.
High in the air Teranon tightened his grip on Letisi.
"I like this." he said, "I say we do this more often... I like how it influences our riders."
"I just like you." Letisi said, "Now be quiet."
"Sure my red beauty."
