Quaihd's Story
All was quiet...
Cyatri was peacefully calm with everyone but a few people asleep. The stars in the skies twinkled, dark clouds drifting by harmlessly and the two moons shed patches of yellow and blue light down to the planet, creating shadows where they were blocked in their path.
All was quiet... or was that just an illusion?
A dark laugh filled the night air in Dragon Tears.
"Honey? What are you doing?" Oisin called out when he heard the laugh of Iyru, dark and amusing as if she was a criminal mastermind. That was not like Iyru at all, but his wife had been rather secretive of late, stalking round her lab, coming out only to eat and sleep, and even then she spoke little of what she was doing.
"Nothing…"
Iyru came out of her lab and smiled sweetly, she was not about to tell Oisin what she was doing. She had locked herself in her lab 10 days ago and even though her secret mission had blown up in her face for about 3 times now, she wouldn’t quit. Eventually she would be getting somewhere.
Looking over her shoulder, Iyru saw in time that Oisin was reaching for the doorknob of her lab. She jumped cat-like towards the door, slipped past Oisin and pulled it shut again.
"You have to eat sometime.." Oisin called from the other side of the door.
"Oisin honey. I love you, but don’t bother me now…"
"I’ve got tea…" Oisin sang.
Iyru hesitated for one second. "No, no, no…" She locked the door and then pulled some chairs in front of it.
She got back to her table and single light in the small room. She mixed 2 colourful mixtures together, and for a moment it didn’t do anything. But then the tube started to hiss.
"Oh no.." Smoke filled the room and then it blew up in her face.
"Damn it!" She screamed and rushed toward the door. Throwing away the chairs, she then opened the door, hitting Oisin in the face.
"What were you doing?" She asked a bit too angry.
"I was trying to look through the keyhole.." He whispered a bit scared of her.
"Oh I’m sorry… it’s just that I can create dragons but I can’t seem to create …"
"Drats.. I thought you were going to tell me."
"Not in this lifetime. Now where is that tea?"

Iyru had taken 2 days off, spending a lot of time with Safyre. But then she told the dragon that she had to go back. Though the look on that dark blue face was sad and hard to leave like this Iyru had to go. Safyre knew what she was making, knew how important it was to her rider. And she wouldn’t tell a soul what it was...
Back in her lab, a small room with just a few tubes and lots of DNA, a single table, some chairs and no window; Iyru started where she had left a few days ago.
Soon…

Another 20 days later Iyru came running out of her lab. Screaming, startling Oisin. "I did it Oisin! I did it!" She jumped around happily and hugged Oisin, still jumping, dragging the bard up and down with every launch.
"What did you do?" Oisin tried to keep Iyru calm, but let her go when it didn’t work to keep himself from serious harm. Iyru ran back into her lab and Oisin followed. He wanted to enter her lab, but ran against the door.
"It’s still not quiet finished honey.. Sorry."
Grumbling Oisin got to his feet and went back to bed. Iyru smiled and then returned to her work. She couldn’t sleep now. She was so close to hatching her newest project.
The next morning, when Iyru woke up, she stretched her cramped body. She got up from the chair she had fallen asleep in and ran towards the other side of the room, toward the incubator. The only remains of the project were some broken shells. But where was the rest? She looked around and then when she looked at the ceiling, she saw her latest creation.
"Well hello.." Iyru smiled at him.

"Hello Iyru." the black bat-like creation of hers answered, hanging upside down with his wings wrapped around his body.
"You can talk?" Iyru asked surprised.
"Yes well… You heard me."
"Oh, we’re a know-it-all are we?"
"Yes." The creature told her, cleaning his claws with his teeth in a daring display of acrobacy where Iyru more than once thought he would fall to the ground.
"Come here that I can look at you."
"Only if you let me out of this room."
"No… I can’t."
"Yes you can and you will. I’m smart enough AND deadly too. I’ll call myself Quaihd"
Iyru tried to suppress a laugh. "I will not."
"Will too!"
"No."
"Yes."
"NO."
Then I will take the hard way out. Bye Iyru. Until next time. I have to expand my horizon." And with that it disappeared.
"Wait Quaihd.." Oh well… It’s not that it’s going to start an army, Iyru thought.

Outside Quaihd hovered around and looked for a nice dark moist cave. When he finally found it (location unknown until this day - he wants no tourists soiling his crib!) he settled in and waited patiently - well maybe impatiently by the amount of circles he ran across the ceiling of the cave.
Then finally a hazy yellow figure became sharper.
"Have I been waiting for you?"
"Not just me Quaihd.. My mate is here too."
Quaihd looked around and even with his super eyes, he didn’t see anything.

"Bloesem… Do you have an imaginary friend?"
"No.. ImmerNacht… come in the light."
And then Quaihd saw a little movement of a lighter grey against the dark cave.
"Why don’t we play?" Quaihd asked at his two new friends.
