Sparen Forest

Habitat:
Sparen Forest is the forest closest to the Dragon Tears main buildings. It
is the first large interruption of the wide open spaces of the whispering
plains. The forest itself is a mostly wintergreen forest common in most
colder parts of earth. It has pines and oaks, both of which cause the
ground to be infertile except for the hardiest plants. There are ferns and
bushes in the Sparen Forest, but you can mostly look through the trees for
quite a distance. There are also some rather large open spaces where the
gryphons can gather.
Life forms:
The Gryphons
Appearance: Gryphons, who are part bird and part
dragon might be
the most unexpected products of the eggs. It is not even clear if they can
be considered dragons, but they are born from the same eggs as he dragons
and have the same basic powers. They have feathered wings, tails and arms. They
stand on high legs and have beaks and claws they use
to climb the trees they build their nests in. A gryphons village is quite
impressive, it has walkways for the humans and fledgelings, yet enough
open spaces for the large adults to take flight, all nests decorated with bright
sails and colourful streamers.
Colours: Dark (black or Silver) and Light (White or Gold) mixed
with any other.
Temperament: Depends on colouring and is very variable.
Special Power: Fire Magic (e.g. breathing flames)
The Pets: Kits
Kits are smaller versions of gryphons that were born in the woods, but
before Nick's lucky find that these eggs needed to be hung from trees to
hatch into the full form. They are more sociable than most gryphons
however and thus easier to live with which makes them quite wanted around
Cyatri.
