Raven listened at the door. He had
gotten in, but it had taken him longer than expected. The leader had
flown, as had the dark birdman. The other three were still in the
penthouse, talking. Raven listened carefully when one of them, the man
with the glasses, stepped in front of his computer and started talking to
himself. Didn't he know talking to himself was a sign of a disturbed mind?
Apparently not.
"What are you doing
Trevor?" Figaro asked when he came back out of the room.
"Making an entry in my journal."
"You have a journal?" Figaro laughed, "How girly is
that!"
"It's my way of staying alive!" Trevor shouted.
"Oh come on! Cerces wouldn't kill us. maybe leave us on an
uninhabited planet..."
"Don't even say that!" Trevor yelled back.
"Imagine it! No computer, no internet..."
"Stop!" Trevor yelled.
Trevor got up, bumping into Figaro on his way from the seat to his feet.
He couldn't even imagine a life without the net but what had gotten him
really spooked was the possibility that their contractor might actually do
away with them after the job was done. His journal would keep
him safe, it just had too. He ran to the door and barged out.
"Where are you going?" Figaro yelled behind him."
"Out!"
But Trevor didn't get that far. He was stopped at the top of the stairs by
Shadow. With a single move from his hand the tall man stopped the computer
nerd and waved him back into the penthouse.
"No-one is allowed to leave the penthouse from now on." Mormont
said.
"Convenient seeing as you just got back." Ivana said, wrapped in
towels after a shower.
"I checked the surroundings." The spy said innocently.
Ivana shrugged and went back to drying her hair. She closed the door
behind her leaving the three men to battle it out amongst themselves.
"What happened?" Mormont wanted to know.
"Nothing." Trevor said, looking down to the ground, "Just
needed some air."
"Open a window." Figaro suggested and went to his room."
Outside the door, Raven changed
back. He had only just been in time to avert being seen by this Trevor
guy. The whole thing was frustrating. He had been sitting here for about
an hour and nothing had been said about the plan.
"Let's go over the plan one
last time." Trevor said.
"I don't see why." Figaro answered
"I want to be sure."
"Tomorrow we'll fly to HS-196. We'll take over the colonisation crew of
three and plant the device. After the planet is destroyed, Cerces will
sell the prototype. We then get our share and disappear. Easy."
"What if anything goes wrong?"
"Has anyone seen you?"
Trevor shook his head. No-one would have been able to spot his hacks in
the main Colony computer.
"Neither have they seen me, Shadow or C4." Figaro said,
"Speaking of C4. I think she would want me with her now."
Figaro left for Ivana's room and stayed there. Trevor shook his head and
thought. He still wasn't sure this would all work out. It was like his
father had always told him. Plans to make money fast didn't always work
out as good as they looked on paper.
