THE PRESENT
Fera and Nostu return into our view as very well-conserved 120-year olds. They have grown to the size of humans, though they retain their draconic features in their look. It doesn't matter much to them since they only come out at night (as good vampires) and their appearance adds to the level of fear they extract from humans.
It is on one of their midnight hunts that we meet them again. It is Nostu who leads their little hunting party (it was his turn, Fera is rather feministic and insists she is as good as him at hunting). As said in the stats this is quite normal, and Nostu doesn't even answer to her statements anymore. Instead he wonders where there could be others like him... ehm them... He asks Fera if she doesn't have this need as well, but Fera denies. She never felt the need to find others, only to prove herself. Then she adds that she has found love without others like them anyway. Nostu turns toward her, expecting that they will have a wild mating flight right here under the moon like they used to have before, but she announces that she is deeply in love with Distun, their master.
Nostu is outraged, only partly because Distun is human, though he insists that that is his main reason for resenting her choice. He in fact is deeply in love with his sister and cannot believe she would cast their bond away so easily. But because Nostu is who he is, he keeps silent and lets Fera lead the hunt, knowing his heart won't be into it.
Things keep going like this for a few weeks, Nostu at one time even spying on his sister when she meets Distun. He is appalled to see what their lord makes her do. His sister, who he has always admired for her intelligence and courage to keep going, totally lowers herself in his presence, discarding all that they are... BETTER than those half-demons. His rage almost unlocks the memories that are locked inside his brain, but he is caught and the memories fade back.
Nostu is of course punished, his anger flares high again, but it is transformed into a vindictive craving that does not focus it's energy on his mind, but rather on his actions. In the end, he breaks his chains (literally, he is chained to his master's chair) and is able to get away.
Fera is shocked by her brother's rebellion but she feels her heart sadden at the prospect of never seeing him again. But within the week he comes looking for her. He awaits her in a dark tower, on stairs she frequents. Hidden in a large cape, he suddenly presses her to the wall, kissing her fiercely.
Fera at first fights back, but then gives in when she realises who is kissing her. But her struggle and muffled cries have already alerted the vampires (damn super-hearing) and they need to run for their lives... It's a good thing they have super-strength. They do fight some vampires when they are flying in the air, their larger bodies (no need for them to go all bat-form) better suited for fending the critters off, their tails lashing, you get the picture. Both do get wounded though. And it is the pain and the dire need to break out that suddenly jumpstarts Nostu's memory. For a split second he feels like he knows everything, but then it fades again and only the knowledge to teleport remains with him.
Nostu grabs Fera and then teleports them both to the first location he can think of... The image of the calm mountain valley he has  seen before and knows with the eyes of his heart, like he knows Fera,. He knows this is the right place to go. Home...
Once there, they can only stay briefly. Nothing is left from what used to be there, but they both feel time is running out for them both. The mountain valley isn't unknown to the vampires and they will be there soon enough.
An hour seems long enough for them at that time and they sneak in a scene of 'thank god we're alive'-playtime and while in the throes of passion Fera experiences her own senses grow to where she's certain there is a safe place they can go. As the vampires pop into view once more, ready to take back the pets of their master she knows what she must do to get away.
"To the Healing Den..." is the last thing she whispers, grasping on to the feeling of safety she gets from the hovering nexus-station that she can remember though she has never been there.
