Ziemo threw back his left head and his dark-coloured manes flew back. His right head snorted and scraped some of his feet. The Skala Mutt was an unlikely combination of heads, limbs, tails and wings. Though his wings were too small for flight, they did flutter and aid his speed while running. His horns looked fearsome and sharp, his body was broad and sturdy. And if some were still inclined to attack him, his hooves would make quick work of them. His red eyes looked into the world with careful paranoia. He was cursed after all. The guard around his mind was powerful and meant no-one else could ever come close to knowing him. Because Ziemo knew the future, and sharing any of it with others meant pain. The torment was so great that he would collapse even before he could utter a single letter, both verbally or telepathically. Closing of his mind was the best option for everyone involved.
But Ziemo needed to live somewhere. He had grown weary of travel. He needed a place where he could stay, where people would not ask questions or try to hunt him down. As it was, this had happened several times before. Somehow a two-headed shimmering horned horse made for a good scapegoat when things didn't play out well. Not that Ziemo had any way of influencing fate. No, Her vision was binding and more iron-clad than a contract drawn up by the devil himself.
As it was, Ziemo found a likely home on a large island continent on a small planet somewhere removed from the grander Outer Space. Time did funny things here and people seemed to be scarce. The hills he preferred to roam were inhabited by simple mammals. In the waters lived sea dragons, but they hardly took notice of him. In the mountains lived a race of dragons but the one time he had encountered one of them, the pure white individual had taken one look at him, bowed their heads and had retreated away. Ever since none of them had even come into his sight.
All this suited Ziemo perfectly. His only nuissance was a small winged pest that seemed to patrol the area as if it owned the place. Having seen him a couple of times, Ziemo knew that Kiven was in fact a caretaker of sorts. But if the Star Dancer knew what was good for him, he'd leave him alone. The little bug had bigger worries in his future anyway.
