Race: Human

Looks: Ryokuou is a wiry man of slightly below average height. He has curly brown hair, brown eyes, a large nose and thin lips. Since he's usually hauled up in his study, he is rather pale. He lacks muscles but has the tenacity of someone used to doing specialised work for long stretches of time.

HATCHING
“It’s time” came the telepathic call to any who would hear it.
Candidates, spectators and officials all hurried to the designated place in the Drift. The drak mothers still had their wings screening their eggs from view, and dozens of the hundred or more visible eggs were rocking where they sat, the little dragons within working on the double to out and find their One. Though not all of these would need to bond to survive.
Eggs hatched one after the other, the resulting hatchlings showcasing a myriad of features, colours and patterns, though with the expected white and snowflakes being the most abundant. Trying to follow the hatchlings soon became impossible as they mixed with the novos.
The eggs rocked to their own rhythm, some faster and some slower and some in a syncopated beat that made them hard to watch. Observant spectators, however, might have noticed a smaller egg’s rocking getting slower and more feeble as the minutes progressed.
A septet of eggs towards the edge of the sands started rocking with exceptional vigour, and two of them broke open within a few rocks, spilling green and purple dragonets out onto the soft sand. Their eyes whirled with alarm as they got to their feet and raced across the sands not to the candidates but to the small egg that had all but stopped.
‘We are coming!’ shouted the purple.
‘Hold on!’ shouted the green.
The duo smashed into the egg and scrabbled at it with egg tooth and claws until they succeeded in pulling it open. Within, a small white face pressed up through the slit in the membrane and took a big gulp of air, and then another.
‘Thank you.’ The newly hatched dragon’s mind voice was exhausted and seemed breathless. ‘I was so afraid I wouldn’t get out.’
‘Never fear, friend. The Crystal Court is here now, and we’ll always come to the rescue.’ The purple said, nuzzling the white cheek of their half-hatched friend.
‘I don’t know how much more rescuing I will need.’ He said, his voice stronger now.
‘Well, maybe not you, but surely others will need our help.’ The green said, and stood by while the white-faced hatchling clambered up and out of his shell and revealed himself to be purely white, with scales like his dam and a thick Geperna-type crest. The Crystal Court dragons stood back as the white stretched open his wings, showing off the pristine sails and the snowflake markings, and then proceeded to find his bond.
With the theatrics of the white’s hatching and bonding complete, eyes turned back to his rescuers, the purple and green, who now rested. They were a perfect match physically, Old World in build like their predecessors, but without crest or tail spade or any other frills, save for two tiny horns currently the size of chocolate chips. Their hides were solid in hue, but had a soft pearlescent quality once they dried. Not metallic, but not wholly ‘chromatic’ either.
‘Are you ready to bond, sister?’ The green asked.
‘Not yet. I know where mine is, but I will wait in case someone else needs assistance hatching.’ The purple replied. ‘Go ahead if you’re ready.’
The green rose to her feet and trotted gracefully to the candidates, stopping in front of one of the most recently arrived novos - a healer, though perhaps a more scholarly one .
‘Ryokuou, I am Aslorzinth, and I thank you for your patience. Together we will save many.’
Ryokuou stared for a moment at what seemed to be a plain dragon, no markings, one solid colour. Yes, she had the Flurry Flakes on her wings like every other hatchling, but beyond that she was unremarkable? He hadn’t come here with any reason to suspect they’d be leaving with a Vella Crean Court dragon… but now that he had one, he couldn’t think of any other dragon he’d rather have.

STATS
Name: Aslorzinth
Colour: Green
Gender: Female
Species:
Parents:
Origin: Ryslen Flurry 2021-2023
Size: 8 feet at the shoulder
Personality: Always ready to help, Firm and Dependable.
Description: The Crystal Court dragons share the body type of their original Ryslen heritage, long limbs and large paws. Unlike Ryslen dragons, they have iridescent spiral horns instead of headknobs or a crest. They have no other spikes or spines like some of the other Court dragons. Their hides have a soft pearlescent sheen regardless of rank rather than being matte or metallic. Their crystal horns can chip and break. Any pieces broken off will melt away as if they were ice. Broken horns can be set back together if one acts quickly and can be fused if the dragon has any healing power available.
Abilities:
SPEECH

Telepathic Speech: The ability to speak mind-to-mind with another receptive being.
Verbal Speech: The ability to speak aloud. They may only know a handful of words in any given language, but they automatically understand them due to being telepathic.

PSIONICS

Enhanced Empathy: The ability to sense emotions in others and share feelings with another. The enhanced version allows the wielder to temporarily impact the emotions of another – to calm a panicked person, for example.
Foresight: Has a sense of the possible future which allows them to teleport into dangerous situations without immediately being in physical danger.
Danger Sense: The ability to know when danger is coming and which direction it is coming from. It does not stop the danger, only alerts the dragon to incoming peril.
Enhanced Teleportation (self): The ability to go “between” places to a place they have personally been, a place they receive clear coordinates to, or are in contact telepathically with another being in that location.

HEALING

Limited Healing Powers: The healing powers of a Crystal Court dragon manifest as a ball of light between their horns. When the light is reduced to nothing, their ability to heal is exhausted until they have had time to recuperate. Recovery to full power can take as little as a week if the power is not fully exhausted but may take months if it is overused. These powers are usually held for emergencies due to their limitations.
Self Healing: A Crystal Court dragon can heal their own wounds no matter how egregious. They can regenerate their own lost limbs and repair their horns if cracked or broken off. However, if they use all of their healing energy on another while injured, they will have to heal naturally. It is dangerous for them to become gravely injured during the recovery period on their healing powers.
Manifestation of Power: Ball of Light (dims and reduces in size as used, glow on area being healed (if external), no visual connection between the ball and the site)

MAGIC
Elemental Power - Ice (moderate): – local temperature control, and freezing liquid (including living things, but they will not be harmed unless they break, they'll thaw to be normal again), create ice/snow
Elemental Power - Light (minor): can create and direct small floating balls of light.

NOTES
Bond: Required
Bond Exclusion: Cannot bond to other Court Dragons. This is believed to be due to their neutral status amongst the courts. Having a Court dragon as their bond would necessarily bias the Crystal Court towards their bond’s court.

ADULTHOOD
Returning to Khleur had been easy. Aslorzinth had no problem finding her way to his home when she saw it so clear in his mind. Though Ryokuou and Aslorzinth had trained in the basics most fledgeling pairs needed to master, like flight and self-care, they had also spent a lot of time practicing their healing. Ryokuou had been surprised to find that Aslorzinth healed in a similar way to him, using an orb of light - though hers was less tangible - to direct her magic to those places that needed healing. Ryokuou was more adept at storing energy away, which proved to be quite an advantage when they were needed to heal multiple people. But Aslorzinth always made certain that Ryokuou did not take too much of his own energy. Likewise, Ryokuou made certain to keep an eye on Aslorzinth's orb of healing power.
In times when they needed to recharge, they would study. A passtime that Ryokuou still felt was the most enjoyable.
"Only studying comes at a disadvantage for your own health too." Aslorzinth chided.
"So you've told me many times before." Ryokuou replied good-natured.
They had come to talk openly and frankly with eachother, there was no need to hold back when they knew eachother so completely.
"I feel it might be time to get some exercise."
"I'm not stopping you."
"I'm taking you with me. You've been sitting for far too long!"
