Chapter 5: Ignis' Flight

Ignis awkwardly flew through the crowded airspace of the dragonry. Fyr carefully helped guide her bond to a perch on the ground. Like her bond she had grown, but had retained some of the innocence she had regained at Cy. Her dragon, Red-Orange Partial Glitz Ignis also still acted like any inexperienced fledgeling. She was as unstable and inelegant as one as well, but Fyr wouldn't trade her cheerful bond for any other dragon acting their age.
Ignis was in fact an adult, a female ready to mate. Fyr would have been happy to stay at Cy, letting her dragon pick one of the many male dragons there. Fyr herself had had some little crushes on a couple of the resident males, but things had turned out differently.
Only one week ago her life had been routine and then things had changed drastically. It had all started one morning with Ignis' hide glowing in the morning twilight. Fyr at first hadn't really paid attention to it, her bond was a glitz after all... But soon Ignis had made it clear that she'd go in heat. She wanted to go somewhere new, see some new faces.
"Then why here? There might be dark spirits waiting to swarm me." Fyr pointed out.
"I have taken the liberty to check." Ignis told her, "There are none at present."
Fyr had shrugged, "Don't you like Cy?"
Ignis had rolled her eyes, like any teenager would at such a silly question:
"Of course I like Cy... I just want to see the world. And it has nothing... I repeat Nothing! to do with that lovely stag on the brochure."
Fyr had giggled. Just like Ignis to notice the male looks. With that said, there was just one more question to ask: "What does his bond look like?"
