Flight 8
Spectral-Sunset
Snow-Horned Arayath and Sunset-Spectral
Snow-Horned Naryen
by Victoria
Arayath walked up to Naryen and said "I can't
wait
any longer"
"What?"
He said mischievously
"I can't wait any longer
to rise." she said
lovingly
"You
do know Red
Fox will be disappointed,
don't you?"
he said grinning
"Yes."
She said She turned around a flew high
"Try and catch me!" She said taunting him.
"I
will!"
he shouted after her. He flapped
his wings and went all the way to the top of the clouds, he glided in the breeze
scanning for her. She was swimming in the cool waters of Lantessma Isle. She
landed, it was cheating yes but she was new to this being just matured. She was
arrogant and kind but knew were he would be. She stepped into the lake in the
middle of the island and swam to the bottom and like an alligator lifted her
eyes above the waters surface and nose to be able to breathe and see while at
the same time staying camouflaged.
"I found
you!"
He called at the
lump that was the top of head.
She burst from the water and flew swiftly with her new
found strength. She headed towards the clouds climbing the air rifts to the top
of the sky tipping her wings into the clouds like water when Naryen appeared she
dived down. He knew this trick of hers well because in the games of tag she
always used it and now her tricks were no different, he followed except he knew what
she was doing and dived directly. Nobody especially Arayath could evade this, he
thought. He sped down towards The isle and she saw him and flied forward instead
of down. He had not anticipated this and changed course. When she saw this as
well she dived straight into the ocean. She had NEVER done this...
She thought
"You won't catch me!"
"oh?"
Naryen said as he swam to her side
and entwined his tail with hers.
"I bet our clutch will be beautiful,
don't
you Naryen?"
"Yes, It will." he said as they swam towards
the shore. As they got there, tails entwined, they saw that Red Fox and Black Wolf hadn't
missed a thing both were standing in front of the caves in a caress. "Naryen,
Do you think they'll be displeased?"
"a
little..."
he said a
little shyly.
Aryath lay on the sands looking at the sunset. Suddenly
she felt something strange. When she looked back a rather large egg was
laying next to her.
"Red Fox!"
she called intent on her bond not having to miss her hatching as
she had missed her flight, "Eggs! I
have eggs!"
"What?! I'm coming!" Red Fox
yelled back, leaping toward the hatching cave, close behind her were Black
Wolf and Naryen. When they were inside a second egg had already emerged,
this one smaller then the first. Not much later a third egg appeared, this
egg too was small, like the second.
Patiently the four waited, but when after an hour no more eggs had come
they realised Arayath's first clutch would be small.
"They are pretty eggs." Red
Fox said when she looked over the eggs again, it almost seemed like a
little layer of frost had settled around them, making it rather hard to
stare inside at the still transparent eggs. "I
bet there will be some interesting dragons hatching from your eggs."
