Flight 5
White-Winged Green Kyrenath and Blue Aseth and Bronze Ithtyruith

Eryka was drawn out of her dream when she heard the scream. Her heart and hormones had already figured out what had happened before her mind could register it. Kyrenath was ready to fly.
"Wait!"
"I need not wait! I need to fly... Now!" Kyrenath said raging in Eryka's head.
"Don't eat! Just Drink!" Eryka screamed at the top of her lungs alerting all of Lantessama what was about to happen.
"I shall do as you say. But only to outfly these nitwits." Kyrenath said blooding her first prey. Not all dragonesses at Lantessama needed to feed before a flight, but she was Pernese and wishing to fly long and fruitful. Right in the middle of her second kill Kyrenath bolted up and flew high above the Isle. She was followed, almost instantly by 5 suitors. Two blues (rains), one hatched at Lantessama, one from Sidra came close behind her, fast as all blues were, though not as fast as the small white (opal) male that had lingered here with his rider. The white, Thendarinth, wasn't unhandsome, Kyrenath thought. Then there were a bronze (tan) and a brown (earth) following further down. They were stronger and bigger, catching more wind in the rise to the heights above Lantessama.
Down on the ground Eryka followed her dragon's thoughts. She looked around and identified the riders. She noticed one older man, a man that could have easily been her grandfather, lingering between the rest. Though she knew flights like this hardly ever ended in a long term relationship, the thought of a man much older than her still repelled her after what had been done to her in the past.
"Why not want him? Tehndarinth says his rider is still young and capable."
"No. Choose another!" Eryka thought back.
"Oh ok..." Kyrenath said and flew away of the Isle.
Kyrenath, high on a lot of blood easily let behind the white, who with his smaller wings was disadvantaged. The blue clamped on and the Brown and Bronze were gaining on her fast.
"Choose!" Kyrenath yelled at Eryka on the ground.
"It's your flight!" Eryka said, though she had her heart said on T'lem.
Eryka sighed as she watched the young man. He had led a life that had some similarities to hers. He had lost his parents, she had lost hers. Admitted, her history was slightly different. In fact T'lem was the only one of the riders she knew well enough to want. Maybe because T'lem was the only one she had actually started a conversation with. He wasn't bad to look at either.
"If that is who you want, I will go for him." Kyrenath said.
But Kyrenath wasn't quite ready to give up the flight. She manoeuvred through the air, leaving back the brown and the Lantessama born blue. Now all who followed her were the blue and the bronze. Kyrenath was ready to make her choice. She flew up, spiralled down and angled toward blue Aseth only to be caught by the tail by the bronze who had made a lightning fast manoeuvre.
"I have caught you, my fair dragoness." Ithtyruith said.
"You may have. Kyrenath said as she squeezed out of his embrace, but you haven't won me. It is not you I wanted. You haven't satisfied me so I will go."
Kyrenath gave a final push and probably hurt the bronze's hide as well as his pride.
"Aseth!" Kyrenath yelled, "I am yours."
"And I shall be yours too." Aseth said entwining his tail with hers.
On the ground Eryka found her breath again as Kyrenath found who she had promised to find. She turned toward T'lem and led him off the grounds while C'saytor was left standing on the beach, looking rather foolish until a woman came and led him too away from the eyes of the crowd.

"Eryka?"
"Yes Kyreanth?" Eryka said.
"I have laid my eggs." the white-winged green said full of dignity.
"You clutched and I wasn't there?" Eryka said disappointed. This was as much and event for her as it was for Kyrenath. Being left out like this made her feel a bit ... left out.
"I sense you aren't fully awake yet." Kyrenath said.
"Well I've been sleeping bad ever since you got pregnant."
"I felt bad too."
"That's what kept me awake."
"I couldn't help it!"
the green said.
"I know and I'm very sorry I ever said it. I was worried about you."
Kyrenath didn't speak mentally, but Eryka felt a fleeting sense of appreciation and  gratitude which made her feel better instantly.
"So how many eggs are there?"
"Eight. Yeah, that's a nice number. It's so round and loopy."
Eryka shrugged. She'd get a quick count sooner or later.
