Mind Pairing 4

Very much a stable and conscientious drak, Pirenla was an easy occupant of the deep cavern. She tended her eggs, gave ample but concise progress reports and basically made little fuss.
Her knight was a slightly different case. Ginevra made Pirenla's seclusion an excuse to go over Wilgen Castle and look for any hidden fault she could find. Oftentimes she swung her hammer to amend what she found, causing loud noises in the otherwise quiet castle.
So it was with a general sigh of relief when pirenla reported that her draklings would be ready for a feast to mingle and pair. The aspirants were informed of the set date and the castle staff organised the buffet.
When the date of the feast arrived, the two aspirants were escorted to the deep cavern. Rayne, a stern matronly forester had waited a long time to decide on which castle she would aspire at, but her eye had finally fallen on the rugged Wilgen. Raphael, the burly red-haired piano-player from Acicade Castle, had been a a big help to Pravin who was trying to archive the library since the piano-player had previous experience looking for parts. It had been decided before the fact that Pravin would continue Raphael's training so the two were standing close together. Raphael yearned to play the piano, but so far his requests to acquire one had fallen on deaf ears.
As the small group of assembled people and draks mingled with a drink and some food, they talked about plans for the future, the weather and the latest improvements brought on by Ginevra.
A small time after everyone had gathered, the doors to the deep cavern opened and Pirenla paraded out, followed by three small draklings. One was the sandy colour of the desert, the next as bright as summer clouds in the dark blue of an autumn sky and the last was the dark of night with the gold of light on his wings.
Pirenla let out a modest call to get the attention of everyone gathered and introduced her children:
"I pressent you with Desert Adelaar, Wind Xiarla and Night Jodelaar."
The draklings dipped slightly in curtsy and then went to explore the people and draks gathered.

After a while, Desert Adelaar sat down close to Raphael. The drakling looked intently at the young musician. He'd noticed the nervous rhythms the pianist was tapping. Some with his fingers, others with his feet. Though nervous and disjointed, they were interesting. Adelaar couldn't help but tap his tail in time with the missing beats.
"Why do you do that?" he finally asked.
"I'm composing. Not the best time I guess, but it's part of who I am."
"I quite like it. I think I'll go with you."

Somewhere across the room, the white drakling with the deep blue wings was eyeing Rayne. She'd noticed how the woman was strict but correct and seemed to take charge of a room. Xiarla very much liked that. So when Rayne finally let go of her meddling and tampering, the drakling approached her and said:
"I'd heard you would be looking at usss. But I guesss that's not your way. I ssshall gladly educate you."
"Little firecracker, are you?" Rayne grinned, "I think I'd prefer a drak with some personality to them."
"I've got you covered."

As the evening drew to a close, it became clear that Jodelaar would not pair today.
"I'll go look for my own mate. It'sz too sssoon to decide on one when I have not even left the castle."
