STATS
Name: Willard Sparke
Age: 24
Gender: Gender-fluid
Race: Halfling
Class: Paladin - Fire Mage
Description: Willard is a diminutive young person who has had their fair share of ridicule. This youngster chose to become a paladin despite their small size and frail features. Willard won't ever put on muscle, they will always be able to pass for a child (when shaving their mustache) and they generally won't ever inspire fear into adversaries.
Personality: Willard doesn't care one bit about the joking remarks and the (sometimes) bullying. They very much enjoy whooping the asses of those who taunt them. Agile and fast they know a lot of martial arts to topple over larger opponents and their fire magic means they can attack from further away, causing chaos and confusion to aid their missions.
Weakness:
Shopping and collecting. They might just have a complete set (or two) of miniatures from different collections.
Skills:
     * Fire magic (mostly used to imbue fire to swords/arrows)
     * Martial Arts
     * Disguising skills (male, female, child,...)

STORY
Rapiji entered the building of their new employment in human form. Their draconic form, though fabulously striking, really wouldn't fit the narrow corridors and stairwells. But even as a human Rapiji featured golden-orange skin with purple stripes and brown hair. Today they had retained their horn and fluffy ears but if necessary they could change into full human mode. It was Rapiji's shapeshifting and holy magic that had landed them the job and they were eager to start.
When Rapiji entered the office of their future superior, they found that they weren't the only ones present.
"Is this my new partner?" Willard asked.
The halfling had to look up to take in Rapiji. Willard was used to keeping their thoughts private so it was a surprise when Rapiji replied:
"Oh I can shift to be less conspicuous."
"Ehhem." their boss pulled attention back, "Rapiji Jariane-Rona'de is a dragon shifter. They will be a real asset to our order and we feel quite a good match to your abilities, Willard."
Turning to Rapiji their boss continued, "And this halfling is Willard Sparke, aside from being a paladin, he is also a fire mage and good at disguising himself."
Willard kept their eyes on Rapiji but saw nothing of a reaction to his looks.
"Do you look different then?" Rapiji asked in their mind.
"Most people find me too small for this job."
"All people are small." Rapiji replied, "Your mind works fast though so I would think you're good at what it is you do."
That last bit was but a whisper as Willard effectively booted Rapiji out of their mind. For their entire life the halfling had had to prove themself to humans. To be likened with them by a dragon was a funny thought of it's own. In the brief moment they had spoken telepahtically, Willard had peered into a keen mind. It seemed they were quite matched on that point and it would be a good thing. They needed a partner they could trust.
"We'll leave you two to get acquainted after I give you the details of the job." Their boss went on, ignorant of the thoughts that had already been shared, "We'd like you two to infiltrate a smuggler's ring. Nothing too difficult for your first job. No need to sabotage the criminals. Documenting evidence will be plenty."
The boss handed them a file and then excused himself. Rapiji and Willard were left alone to plan and plot.
"What are they smuggling?" Rapiji asked.
"Slaves apparently, children mostly."
"Seems like they would give that job to someone they think is small."
Willard would have reacted with a sharp retort had Rapiji not looked completely neutral about the fact. Although Willard assumed at least some of the remark had been to get a reaction out of them.
"That leaves the question of how small you can get." Willard replied instead.
"Not very I'm sorry to say. I can however teleport in to assist if you give me an anchor point. Maybe I can be the cruel eprson selling you to the bad guys. I'd very much like to play that role."
"I guess the telepathy would be handy to report back."
More plans were made while they each listed their strengths and weaknesses. They had to admit that they did indeed complimented each other well. It seemed someone over in Human Resources had done their job.
