Gender: Female
Race: Murdon
Class: Scientist - Xenogeologist

Description: Uribriel is a tall (8'8"), bipedal hexapod alien like all Murdon. She is warm-blooded but egg-laying with a large brain to body ratio. Her upper set of arms is her dominant pair, but she can use both sets very well and with her two thumbs on each hand she is in fact very handy (as opposed to being "all thumbs"). The bulb of her tail and the fronds are filled with a liquid that can be used as an extra power source when doing big mental tasks.

Uribriel wandered across the island and felt a bit strange standing on a large piece of rock that was suspended in a different vaccum from space. The Murdon female had been raised on a space station so feeling sand beneath her feet and to gaze across a seemingly endless sea felt strange to her. She'd been to Zar a couple of times but those had been short visits. Nothing like how she was now taking an extended vacation.
Though it wasn't exactly a vacation. She was here to cultivate ties between Lantessama Isle and Mwari Station. And beyond that, it was a wonderful opportunity to study the geological formation of the large main continent of the planet. It was said to be mostly void of sentient life and that made Uribriel expect so many wonderful things that it gave her goosebumps.
Although there was that one little problem. Laedrys Trix had insisted that Uribriel enlist a dragon to keep her safe. The leader of the island had told her she didn't really need to bond, but having a dedicated dragon to watch her back would give the Laedrys peace of mind. And then the woman had suggested she take a walk in the hills and mountains to gather her thoughts.
That last bit had been a cryptic message but uribriel had not caught the reference. But walking across mountains and hills was a treat in itself. The tall Murdon saw one interesting thing after the other and was soon pretty much lost. But it was an island, she would get somewhere eventually.
Sudden noises caught her attention and the Xenogeologist wandered over to see what was happening. As she got closer she noticed a grouping of gem dragons. Uribriel gasped. She'd heard of these little wonders but had not seen one in the flesh. And now she was seeing a dozen. All boasting bright colours. A milky white one seemed to be the center of the group and several others danced around it.
Before she could stop, Uribriel had stepped closer. The little dragons had noticed her but didn't seem to mind.
"Maybe if I could bond one of you." Uribriel sighed, "I could certainly get behind that although I don't know whether that would please the Laedrys enough to let me go to the continent."
A bright pink gem dragoness that Uribriel recognised as a Rhodonite gem flew closer. The dragoness seemed to circle and snif. Uribriel held her breath and figured that maybe she would bond this little creature. But she soon found out that would not be the case as she was told:
"We have found the one that could be yours to call. Bound by lovely Rhodonite and pulled close by mighty Opal."
A larger dragon with the colour of white opal with copper plating suddenly stood among the gem dragons. Dazed the female dragon looked around and asked:
"Someone called for me? I, Ashebe-Olpako, heed the call of my elder and will do my duty."
"Protect this interesting one as she explores the forests beyond." the opal gem dragoness ordered and then the gem dragons were suddenly gone.
Ashebe-Olpaka turned toward Uribriel and cocked her head: "You are indeed unusual. I don't think you're in danger of being mauled but if that is what is asked of me I'll gladly join you."
"Thank you." Uribriel replied.
Maybe the Laedrys had known what would happen in the mountains. Although... there was a little niggle at the back of her mind. Going on an expedition meant spending a lot of time together and they needed to at least be able to talk.
"I hope you like rocks, gems and digging in soil..."
"I love to learn." Olpaka nodded eagerly, "Please tell me all you know about gems and rocks and soil."
Feeling reassured, Uribriel started to make her way back down, her mind already on the trip ahead.

FLIGHT
"The feel of this sand is quite grainy. It's weight suggests that it carries heavier minerals and..."
Ashebe-Olpako listened carefully to her companion's lecture. She'd been listless the last couple of days but had enjoyed the soft droning of Uribriel's voice. A little spark lit in her belly though and she felt like she would soon be ready to take on the world... or the sky. When Uribriel stopped talking, Olpako suggested:
"Would you like to take a fieldtrip somewhere? If I rise and get caught, I'd need to stick with my eggs for a while so it would be somewhere where you could work for a while without growing bored."
Uribriel considered: "Let's look for a place together. The Nexus is big, there's sure to be a place that suits our needs."
