Name: Qwelme
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Class: Tamer Description:
Qwelme is a short woman with a heavy build. She has broad
shoulders and muscled limbs. She keeps her hair at a practical length
where it just covers her ears but isn't a hazard of getting caught while
riding. She has dark brown eyes and a tanned complexion. Her nose is
traight and her lips are full. Qwelme prefers practical clothing from
natural material.
Personality: Qwelme is a practical woman with a big
heart when it comes to animals. She has never met a living creature that
she wasn't interested in and would love to care for a rescue center or
zoo. Alas, being practical, Qwelme knows this will always be a dream. But
she does travel a lot, learning about different fauna on the various Nexus
worlds. Most of her hobbies also center around animals: reading,
researching, caring for animals. As long as Qwelme can be around animals
she is happy.
Skills:
*Specialised knowledge (animals)
*Taming (aka patience and perseverance)
*Survival
Pets: Qwelme has
befriended/tamed more than a few animals , she seems to have a bigger
affinity for taming birds but has currently given her flock over to a
friend as she's currently travelling. Qwelme picks up a
humming
drake during this story.

STORY
Qwelme ended the transmission and knew she'd need to wait
a time before she could expect a reply. It was difficult being a
travelling tamer. Her animals were in the care of others back home. She
knew they were fine, but every time she landed somewhere new, she always
sent a message and asked for an update on their status. She might be
driving her friends crazy but she hoped they would understand.
And though she worried about ehr animals, she had wanted to travel. The
cost of taking them along was astronomical so it just hadn't been a
possibility. And that was without taking the stress-levels during
space-travel in account. No she'd done the right thing. But she still
missed her babies.
If only there was an easier way to travel. But if there was, she had yet
to encounter it.
Wandering outside while she waited for her update, Qwelme enjoyed her
surroundings. She had no preferred habitat. Each combination of climate,
soil and feed produced unique results and they were all equally
interesting. Time passed quickly while she was digging for bugs while
watching the bushes for land critters and the sky for avian species.
When Qwelme returned to the post office, she found her update and a
peculiar person carrying a bag of nymphs. Seeing Qwelme's interest, the
person approached her and said:
"Are you interested in adopting one of my humming drakes? My flock is
growing to be too big and I figured I might as well give a couple away to
people who like them. They're quite smart for such small pets and they can
discern quite a few bodily ailments by their sense of smell."
Qwelme had been lost at the word 'pet' and eagerly took the creature that
the person gave her. They assured her that the nymphs were all guards or
scouts and either would prove to be a loyal companion.

Normally Qwelme would have ignored the
peddler, but the individual was quite unusual and mesmerising. Somehow she
could not ignore their voice as they mentioned:
"If you like these, you should try watching a dragon hatching. Those are
spectacular."
"Dragons?" she asked.
She'd never even considered they actually existed.
"Oh yes, there are quite a few worlds around that host their clutches. I
believe there's an unusual dragontaur clutch over at the Burrow. You
should check it out."
And so Qwelme changed her itinery and went chasing her destiny. *-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*
Qwelme had not imagined a place called
'The Burrow' to actually be a forest. It hosted a wide variety of trees,
grasses and other plants, making for a wealth of habitats and species.
Several days went by in which Qwelme had lost sight of the greater goal
that was bonding a dragon with teleportation capacities. The tamer had
filled her second journal of notes before sanity returned and that was
only because she quite literally stumbled onto the site of the taur
clutch.
Destiny? Luck? Opportune timing? Or maybe Serendipity had led her there
right when the hatching began. Both parents were present. The mother, a
sturdy calico-marked dragontaur with curved ram-horns and a lot of black
fur had only minor wings, but the sire of the clutch, a pale grey, slender
dragontaur had wings and feathers to spare. Qwelme was already trying to
mix and match the possible outcomes. When the first hatchling did emerge,
Qwelme noted down that it had the horns and fur of it's mother but also
shared the wings of it's father. The hatchlings, still a bit clumsy on
their feet, were a wondrous sight indeed.
So marvelous in fact, that Qwelme forgot to take notes afterward. Which is
why she noticed one in particular, an unusual calico in the colours red,
yellow and jade-green, make it's way toward Qwelme. With a voice that
sounded like twittering bird-song, the hatchling sang to her:
"I'm Bai
Yitai!"
A feeling of wonder and excitement crashed over Qwelme, different than any
of the taming bonds she'd formed before. Qwelme understood that this
dragontaur would and in fact could not be tamed as it was an inidividual
by it's own right. But it was still an entity in need of care and Qwelme
was confident in her skills.
"I'd love to care for you, I'm Qwelme."
