Cidra is a classic willowy, diminutive fae with alabaster

keeps a reversed biorhythm, sleeping during the day and being awake during

warmth but is shy to approach those who might offer those greatest of

to realise she holds the key to change this, but just needs that little
push.

PREQUEL:
SOLSTICE GIFT
Cidra had fled the festivities. She'd never belong anyway. She longed for
someone to spot her and invite her to the heart of the joy. But year upon
year, her chances diminished as more people forgot the magical beings of
old. Even small children had started to ignore her now. Their thoughts
centred on Santa and unicorns. Faeries were out of style.
Fluttering her wings caused golden dust to travel through the air, where
it landed, it brightened the trees. But there was no-one to admire her
magic. As her heart wasn't in it, the dust soon dimmed. Cidra sighed and
perched on a bough. A loud hiss and shriek made her realise that the bough
had been occupied.
Regaining her balance was easy enough. Fluttering her wings, the dust
illuminated the surroundings enough to help Cidra make out a shape pressed
up against the trunk of the fir tree. Straining to see, Cidra only
realised what she was looking at when the Flit opened it's eyes, casting a
light of their own onto the dark of night.
Cidra made her dust glow brighter, finally making out that the flit was
green with darker stripes on her back and limbs. Her wings were folded
back and her limbs were wrapped protectively around a wrapped present.
"Where did you get that?" Cidra asked.
Had one of the people giving the flit a gift? But then wouldn't they have
bonded the flit? Or had the flit found the gift somewhere? Many questions
whirled in the fairy's mind but none would be answered as the flit wasn't
sharing any information. After a while of careful staring though, the flit
extended her neck and sniffed at Cidra's Fairy dust. Letting out a
rumbling purr, the flit crept closer and snuggled close.
"Can I call you Bayberry?" Cidra asked.
The flit looked in her eyes and Cidra felt approval. Not much later the
flit was snoring quietly, leaving Cidra to watch the night.

MEETING IN
THE NEW YEAR
Cidra had yet to open Bayberry's gift. The firelizard had
kept it away from her. But by this time the curiosity was killing her.
Well, not that faeries could really die. Maybe fade away to nothing, but
Cidra was far from there. Especially now that she had a mystery to liven
her days.
So focused had she been on the gift, that she had not realised what day it
was. Only when the clock struck twelve and fireworks temporarily lightened
the nightsky and livened up the quiet of night did she realise that it was
New Year. Beside her Bayberry chirped and shoved the gift to her side.
"Is this for me?" she asked.
Bayberry gave her hand a little nudge and Cidra did not hesitate any
longer; She pulled the ribbon and the box fell open, revealing a fancy
piece of paper. It turned out to be an invitation. Cidra let her gaze fly
over the words, rereading it a couple of times to make sense of what was
written. She was invited to attend a hatching at some place called
Armaina.
Cidra hesitated for a moment until she realised that this was what she was
waiting for... someone had invited her to join the party. She looked up at
Bayberry and said:
"Thank you for bringing this to me."
Bayberry chirped and sent her hungry vibes.
"I'll give you all the food you want." she promised.
Cidra waited
expectantly, looking at the wobbling eggs and feeling destiny work it's
magic. When a gold female drakling broke through it's shell, she just knew
they were meant to be. The juvenile female made eye-contact and introduced
herself daintily:
"My name is Filamenth."
"Nice to meet you.

FLIGHT
Filamenth watched as her bond sparkled in the light of the
moonless night. Stars and faerie dust provided ample light for her eyes to
see though. There was magic in the night. As the faerie dust descended, a
subtle warmth got hold of her. Then her hide heated and she felt as if
there was no holding her. She needed to cool down, needed to feel the
wind, needed to fly...
Filamenth let out a mighty roar and launched herself into the sky, calling
for others to join her.
