Description: Although named after the whers of Pern, seawhers aren't a genetically engineered species created by the colonists. They evolved from an offshoot of ancestral firelizards millions of years ago which became aquatic. Over the years, the seawhers have become larger and more powerful, and are roughly the same size as dragons. They are air-breathing predators that feed on fish, and are fully sapient. They will socialise with the dolphins of Pern, but tend to keep to themselves; the relationship between the two species is civil but not enthusiastic. Like their land-dwelling ancestors, they lay eggs, so they crawl out onto a beach to bury their eggs in the sand before returning to the ocean. The pod will then return to the nest when it is time for them to hatch, with the newly hatched seawhers often bonding to adults in the pod. They are capable of bonding to any sapient species that can receive a bond, or they can remain unbonded.

     Size: 11-16' long / 2.5-3.5' tall
     Naming Convention: always end in -sh.
