Lantessama Isle - Information

Below is the old colour information for the nekrats.

1. General Info
Nekrats are an unusual cross of cats and sea-devil fish combining the grace and beauty of both those creatures as well as their bossy, 'attack now, ask questions later' attitude. They are underwater dragons with elaborate tail and flipper fins that move in a whirling motion to propel the Nekrats forward.
In their own habitat Nekrats are usually happy to lay on the shore, basking in the warm sun, or swimming in the depth of the seas. Nekrats don't usually venture outside their own territory and if one is seen in the waters around Lantessama it is usually low rankers which are the most common and playful of the Nekrats, keeping their kitten-behaviour throughout most of their life. The rarer Nekrats are only seldom seen, but there is hope that this will change now that Lantessama has it's own Nekrat colony.
The Nekrats came to Lantessama by following the dragonders. It is unknown why the dragonders fled in the first place to the crowded isle when they had ample dragons living in the sea. Maybe there was a sudden disease or a change in power. Maybe the small pets were drawn by the sudden shadow-activity on the isle, using the energy of the larger dragons in stead of relying on the Nekrats who are (to say the least) not very fond of the little parasites.
Nekrats come in 2 stages (kitten and adult) and a range of colours relating to the sea.

2. Ranking
Nekrats come in 4 categories. The first and most common categories are the solid colours and are the dragons that are most commonly found in the wild. Nekrats from the second category (isle colours) are a bit harder to find in the wild, but it is to be expected that they will be more common around Lantessama, have colour names like sand and coral. The third category is called Mystery and contains the three Nekrat colours that are so rare they are hardly ever seen by humans. The last category is called Rare for good reason, this category contains mutations and oddities caused by mixed breeding (with Alskyrians for example). In the wild rares are so uncommon they're only rumours.

Traits and Tips

Rare Rares come in a few categories; there are the few nekrats that have been documented displaying Lantessama colours, but this only happens when one of the parents has spent several years around the isle, or when one of the parents is an alien sea dragon. Another form of mutation are the mixed colours, there is always a chance that one of the hatchlings couldn't decide what colour to go with ;) and last but not least there are the very rare new colour variations that pop up to mess with recordkeepers heads. Variations like these have been dubbed: pool, waterfall, foam, mist, reflection and shell).

Storm Storms are the leaders, loners and daredevils among the nekrats, they are fast and agile and usually only surface in the midst of thunderstorms, leaping from the waves and lighting the sky with their lightning-pattern.
Storms are mostly black and grey with streaks of colour like lightning on their wings.
Coral Corals are extremely shy, friendly nekrats who love to hide inside coral reefs and thus often don't grow as big as the other nekrats. They are not often seen, but the few people who have actually seen them don't always agree on their appearance. It seems that these dragons are masters of disguise.
Corals have bright rainbow camouflage colours to hide out on bright, lively pages.
Rock Rocks are territorial and defensive nekrats. They have a killer mood and woe the poor human to cross them when they are just waking up. They are a steady kind of water creature, liking more to guard their little part of the ocean than to swim out to discover new ground.
Rocks like to display very earthy colours: browns, greys and sometimes marbled silver have been recorded already.

Abyss The Abyss are timid, quiet and gentle nekrats, acting as if they have been used to humans for centuries. They are very wise and pursue the more humanitarian goals than the other nekrats. These are also the only nekrats up until this point (except maybe the storms, but they're mysterious all around) that have displayed some skill in magic.
Abysses have a deep black-blue shimmered hide that colours well in the deep blue ocean where they like to live in their own little homes between the cliffs.
Deep Sea Deep Sea Nekrats are adventurous. They love nothing better than to go out and relocate, always looking for new things to get their attention. It is not unlikely for these dragons to swim around Syl'Neriss once a year, never staying on one place for more than a week. They have great enthusiasm and they love to live, which makes them very charming to be around. There's always a tale to be told if you meet a deep sea.
Deep seas are called Sapphire (common), Emerald, Turquoise or Aquamarine (rare) depending on the colour of their hide and all have neon-coloured stripes brightening up their skin.
Sand Sands are fun-loving and kind, they are the most relaxed nekrats so far, enjoying to sun on the sand and go for short swims in the vicinity of heir homes, which are almost always situated in shallow waters or sandy caves. Humans that want to bond these must be able to live with dragons who like to dally a lot ;)
Sand Nekrats have a beige-yellow hide and soft shaded fins that carry a sand pattern.

Well Wells are proud and open nekrats. They are very common, but find that no excuse to act as childish as their fellow low-ranking buddies. They try to keep to the middle and do the right things. When things get a bit harder they tend to philosophise, but basically these are the nekrats that do what they have to do and know what they are doing it for. No need for sweet talk, just lay things out simple and straight for them.
A Well's colour can vary. Their bodies are always dark, but the complex design on their fins can be blue, green, purple or red, the latter two of the four not commonly seen.
Seaweed Seaweeds are gentle, playful and secretive nekrats who enjoy laughing and playing pranks. They are very loyal and not nearly as naive as the waves. They do like the company of their trusting wave-friends though, because, be real, who can resist such a temptation? But it is all in good fun and no-one really gets hurt by these charming little devils.
Seaweeds come in all sorts of green, with fins camouflaged to look like waving bushes of greenery.
Wave Waves are gentle, playful and clear nekrats. They lack every ounce of mystery, but that only adds to their charm. They can be naive at times, but not on purpose. These nekrats are just innocent by nature, always looking at things positive and trusting the world.
Waves come in all sorts of blues, always with a bright wave pattern on their fins.
