Name: Nysse
Age: 34
Gender: Non Binary Female
Race: Magical Human
Class: Potion Witch &
Water Mage Description:
Nysse is a small-statured woman with short green hair,
bright grey eyes and a boyish build.
Personality: Nysse does best with practical tasks.
She is pragmatic and enjoys working in and around the house and stables.
She has an affinity for horses that make her a great trainer and handler.
Nysse has a hard time sitting idle, there's always
something for her to do and she won't ever grow bored. That said, it is
hard for her to take time to herself, to relax and recuperate.
Skills:
*Water Magic (especially infusing
magic into water)
*Potion Creation (not too
proficient at healing brews, but anything else works great)
*Affinity for horses and
horse-adjacent creatures *-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-*-;-* STORY
Nysse knew something was hiding in the barn because the
horses were spooked. She'd been caring for these animals for the past
years, ever since she'd found employment in this famstead, and they were a
sedate lot. There was little that would disturb them aside from a
predator. Which is why she was worried and carrying a pitchfork as a
weapon. Depending on the predator, it would not do much but it was all she
had.
Figuring this, she decided she'd best rely on her other powers, powers
she'd kept hidden from those hiring her. She grabbed a can, filled it with
water from a barrel and quietly enchanted it with a sleep spell. Maybe
turning it into acid would be smarter but that might bring further
complications and she didn't need those. Besides, a potion might hit the
horses. Better for them to just sleep it off than to need healing.
The horses were unsettled, stomping feet, scraping hooves and snorting,
making it hard for Nysse to find out just where the intruder was. No-one
was screaming yet so she dismissed all the occupied stalls. She'd passed
two empty boxes at the entrance and was still alive. That left a box at
the back and the small storage room that held the saddles, bridles and
anything concerning horse care. Nysse's money was on the empty box. Mostly
because the storage room hardly had any room for herself to move.
Taking a quick breath, she kicked open the stall door and looked around.
A set of innocent draconic eyes looked back at her, blinking.
Nysse raised her arm, ready to throw her potion over the offending
creature. She wasn't entirely sure what it was but it had claws, a
fearsome beak and spikes galore on it's head and back.
"Don't hurt me, I mean no harm." the dragon
squeaked.
"I don't trust you. You scared the horses!" Nysse called back, trying to
make herself look biger than she actually was.
Luckily the dragon wasn't exactly large either, maybe only the size of a
pony. And Nysse could handle ponies.
"Serves them right, in their fancy boxes."
the dragon huffed with indignation, "I don't want to
be outside in the cold."
"So you just came in."
"Of course."
Nysse let down her guard. And then the dragon's tail, knocked her sleeping
potion out of her hand. The liquid flew around, hitting the dragon and
Nysse, who both promptly fell in a deep sleep. When she was found the next
morning, she was shaken awake by the owner who'd been alerted by the
stable boy who'd first chanced upon them.
"What's going on here?"
Nysse's head ached from the induced sleep but she knew she was in trouble.
The dragon beside her was also stirring and seemed to be tense. The
pitchforks might have had something to do with that. Go figure. There
really was only one route to take and she hoped the dragn would take the
cue.
"I chanced upon this injured dragon yesterday. It's bad luck to leave one
in peril so I brought her here for food and shelter. I must have dozed off
as I was tending to her."
The dragon shook her head but then gave her a sneaky look of merry
pleasure as she caught on.
"I'm in your debt great sir. I could not have flown
with my wing cramped up like that. It feels great now though, after the
massage by your wonderful employee."
"And the horses?"
"Already seem to be getting used to her presence." Nysse supplied as the
stable was indeed peaceful once more.
When the boss had left and the stable boys had returned to their duties,
the dragon asked with telepathy:
"I like the way you can quickly turn the odds in
your favour."
"Well don't get used to it, I'm fairly certain this has spelled the
beginning of the end of my life here." Nysse whispered back.
"Then why don't you join me? I'm Nykurth and I go
wherever I want."
"That doesn't seem very stable."
"I'm a dragon, Luck favours me." the
dragon grinned.
"I might as well, at least I'll have a friend."
"That's the spirit!" Nykurth called out,
spooking the horses once more.
"Shucks,
they're a flightly lot." she added.
