STORY
Now fully grown, the Diamond Balefire Dragon checked on his cousin Aonar Balechild through a magical mirror of ice and decided that everything was fine. He had raised her, helped her grow and flourish but he could not give her what she truly wanted since he was already family. He could not choose her above everything else because he was already hers.
So now he was free. As free as one set on protecting his younger cousin was anyway. He knew he'd look in on her life as often as he could. At least until she found ehr mate. And if he was honest, even after that. Next to him, Yalusi, his green and black Blighthound stirred.
"I know, we need to start moving."
The Blighthound agreed, sending encouraging messages that entailed the open road, the horizon and a sense of adventure and possibility. It was a heady mix and made clear just how much Yalusi was ready to move on. Of course Aonar had her own Blighthound who would keep her safe.
"Moving on might be too soon. But just moving I can do."
Avundas didn't know where the road would lead him. Maybe he'd find a place to protect, somewhere to call home. A place where those like him could find shelter in their time of need. That seemed like a lofty goal to work toward. He might as well try to make it real...
