Mir'az

HATCHING
Mir'az followed his sister into the hatching sands, not nearly as confident. He knew he might have to return several times before he bonded. The whole process made him think of military academy all over... waiting to be judged good enough to be promoted into a higher group. Of course Rheeann never had had any trouble with getting up higher. For once he'd like to see her take a dive. But if he knew one thing, and this thing Mir'az knew, was that his sister would impress before him. It was as simple as that.
He watched carefully how the hatchlings hatched, how they impressed and sure enough not one of the dragons had looked at him yet. Finally he saw a green make her way toward Rheeann. This was at least a small victory for he knew Rheeann had probably wanted to impressa gold. She smiled though and that was unusual.
Without saying a word his sister left the hatching grounds with her new bond, leaving him to ponder about what had gone on. Looking away from the eggs, he did not see the two blues hatch, one of which had eyes only for him. After a close encounter with his brother, the dragon Hinoth, walked over to Mir'az, carefully pulling the edge of his shirt.
"Hello."
"Ehm, hi." Mir'az said, looking caught, "Did you impress?"
"I did."
"Ok."
"It's nice that you don't have to shorten your name anymore."
"Well my real name was kind of long."
"That's why mine is short." the dragon smiled, teasingly adding: "Mironfertinallaz."

Blue Hinoth

ADULT
"Oy! Hinoth!" Mir'az called as he ran toward his dragon.
"Yes?" Hinoth asked.
"Don't you think it's time to... ehm, you know... fly?"
"Flying? There is a good breeze, but..."
"No. No. I'm talking about a mating flight!"
"Why so suddenly?" Hinoth asked dumbfounded. the two of them had never really talked about the subject before. Hinoth hadn't even looked at the females on the flight boards yet. So why now?
"Because there's this really adorable rider on the boards." Mir'az sighed, picking up the thoughts of his dragon, "She fabulous and she's chasing and this will be a great chance to get to know her better."
"You're not going to wait until the flight, right?"
"Of course not! I know the thoughts of a rider are important to her dragon for choosing the mate. But if we'd at least sign up, then I'd have something to talk about."
"Aside from mechanics."
Mir'az sighed, "I do know girls don't like that stuff."
"Then why bore me with it?"
"Because it's the only thing I'm good at!"
"I will sign up." Hinoth agreed, "But if i ever want to break something you owe me."
"Have you been talking to Zas by any chance?"
"Not at all." the blue dragon winked innocently.
